Kimtrese Slaughter

Kimtrese is the Founder of Courageous Women, an organization that provides a safe place for women to tell their stories of pain. As a victim of neglect, poverty and both physical and sexual abuse, she understands the negative effects of shame and guilt and wanted to help others find restoration.

Kimtrese is a dynamic inspirational storyteller who uses her life experiences, education and passion to guide her audience on a journey of healing, restoration and courage.

As a panelist, workshop host and keynote speaker, Kimtrese encourages personal growth through practical life application tools.  Kimtrese inspires her audience to discover their innate greatness and Live Forward.

Kimtrese is a United States Navy Veteran and has a passion for helping others face their issues and rewrite their life stories. She holds a B.A. in Human Services/Management, a Masters degree in Human Services/Marriage and Family Counseling and a Masters degree in Professional Counseling. She currently works as an outpatient therapist in Hampton, VA. In 2014, Kimtrese was the recipient of the A.C.H.I. Magazine "Mentor of the Year." Award. Her book “31 Conversations” which challenges women to see past the present and hope for the future- was published in August 2014.

The Brooklyn New York native now resides in Newport News, Virginia. She is married to her best friend "Sean Slaughter" and has two beautiful daughters "Lyric" and "Jazz."
