Carol Ellison

A business professional currently working in the healthcare industry at Tidewater Physician Multispecialty Group for 10 years, and currently manages the gastroenterology site in Newport News, Virginia. Carol is a certified medical office manager, and in medical billing with almost 20 years of combined service in specialty healthcare. Carol is a certified member of the AAPC (The American Academy of Professional Coders) and in 2010 was nominated by the National Association of Professional Women as Professional Woman of the Year.  

Carol is the former home-based business owner of Divine Decor8tions, a business specializing in home interior decorating. Some of her work has appeared on HGTV’s Rate My Space website, featuring her custom handmade Christmas decorations. The business was not limited to interior decorating but also event planning, and special event decorations.

Carol is a leader in the Women’s Department at Ivy Baptist Church, 50 Maple Avenue, Newport News. Currently she teaches bible study, discipleship class, and has facilitated women’s retreats, and mentors women of all ages and stages of life.

She serves on the executive board of Maximizing Character as the director of operations. Maximizing Character is an organization that promotes character development, teach life skills, and foster social responsibility among youth. Carol was instrumental in establishing one of the organizations signature brands, Character Couture. Carol also organizes and assists in the annual Character Couture Fashion Show.  

Committed to community service, she volunteered for seven years ministering to women, and juveniles in secure and less secure correctional facilities, and is currently involved in the Virginia Unity Project.

Carol is married to Wayne Ellison (15 years) and they have two sons, Malik Williams and Wayne Ellison Jr. She enjoys reading, scrapbooking, arts and crafts, and sewing.
